Why Hull is the best place to live for students

Hull is the cheapest place to live in the country if you’re a student. Research from online student accommodation marketplace Student.com has revealed Hull is the most affordable place to live in the UK, with rent 50 per cent cheaper than the national average.
On average, students pay £171 a week on rent in the UK – but in Hull they pay just £85. According to the Cities in Focus: Global Student Accommodation Indicator report, Hull is also the fourth cheapest city in the world to live for students. The average cost of rent for students in cities around the world is £167 per week – nearly twice the price of living in Hull.

Luke Nolan, founder and CEO of Student.com, said: “It’s evident that the big urban centres around the world remain huge magnets for both international and domestic students. On average, students pay more to live in these cities, but that’s not to say that there aren’t more affordable options available. “Across Australia, the UK and the US, cities with larger supplies of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) tend to be, on average, more affordable than cities that are under supplied. As the PBSA market grows, we’ll continue to see a more diversified range of options that cater to different budgets.”
