This house for sale near Hull has an incredible secret
This “ultra modern” property with secret doors, a cinema room and a games room is up for sale in East Yorkshire.
The owner of the “energy efficient” home, Jason Scotter, has been credited with a “singular attention to detail” and featured in a number of property design and architectural publications.
Located in Carroway Close, one of Bridlington’s “most sought-after residential areas”, this four-bedroom detached family home, which is on the market for £649,500, offers an array of “stylish and state-of-the-art features” throughout according to the estate agent Hunters, which is marketing the property.
Mr Scotter, 45, originally designed the property himself on paper before taking the designs to an architect and securing planning permission.
He was even involved in the building process too.
“I want to do it again,” he said.
“Everyone was saying it should be on Grand Designs. I’ve gone above and beyond a standard house.
“It is extremely energy efficient. It’s A-rated which is more or less unheard of.”
Mr Scotter lives in the property with his partner and sons, who get to enjoy its cool features.
“You can control the main lights and sockets from anywhere in the world from your phone,” Mr Scotter said. “And you can add to them.
“The cinema room is fantastic. It has a PlayStation link to it as well.
“They have all their mates round for cinema nights and table tennis.”
But perhaps one of its most stand-out features is the fact it has a number of secret doors.
Those wanting to enter into the cinema room have to do so through a book case.
“That book shelf is a secret door,” Mr Scotter said.
“You pull it at one side and you open it to reveal a full-size Doctor Who door. You push the door and go inwards and go into pitch black.
“You turn the light on and you are into the cinema room.”
Mr Scotter also has an instant hot water tap, meaning he does not need a kettle.
The property also features a walk-in wardrobe and walk-in sunbed, to name just a couple more of its features.
“It is like a show house,” Mr Scotter said. “It’s ready to just move in. Everything is in really good order.”
Spanning three storeys, the property includes a light open-plan living space to the rear overlooking the private gardens, study, utility, games room, exercise room, cinema, master bedroom suite, three further double bedrooms and three bathrooms in addition to the double garage and “ample outside space” to the front and rear.
Built and designed with energy efficiency as a priority, it incorporates some of the most up-to-date technology in ventilation and air filtering, harnessing of solar energy (with its 24 solar panels) and harvesting of rainwater in addition to some of the more “visually impressive” features.
These include more than 200 LED lights and colour changing strip lights, as well as the CCTV system all remotely controlled via smart phone.
The property also benefits from having a Mitsubishi air source heat pump, a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system in each room and underfloor heating throughout both the ground floor and lower ground floor level – all aiding to keep it a constant temperature while still maintaining its “high eco credentials”.
Estate agents Hunters said: “This one of a kind property can only be appreciated on internal inspection.”
